Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you teach beginners?

Absolutely. In some ways, it’s better for you not to have picked up any bad habits. Come along and, with a bit of practice, we’ll have you strumming along in no time.

Where are you based?

I teach all of my guitar lessons from my home teaching space, located on Wandsworth Road in Heaton, Newcastle, NE6 5AD. It is a great place to learn to play the guitar, with all the equipment and resources that we will need for our lessons. Click on the map to bring up my rough location on Google Maps. My full teaching address will be provided upon you booking your first lesson.

Do you teach electric or acoustic guitar?

I am happy to teach both. Whether you want some Hendrix or Donovan, finger-style or plectrum (or both together), I’m happy to help.

What do I need to bring?

Yourself, your guitar and a willingness to learn.

Do I need a guitar before coming to my first lesson?

Not at all, I have guitars here at my home studio that you can borrow during the lesson - it is great to pick up a guitar within the first couple of weeks when you start playing though so you can practise at home. I would recommend checking out our article about Guitar Shops in Newcastle and pick the shop of your choice.

Do you teach children?

Yes, I’ve been teaching people between the age of 6 and 65 for some time now. Children under 6 can struggle a little with the guitar and they may benefit more in the mean-time from singing lessons, for more information about singing lessons in Newcastle simply click on this link Singing Lessons Newcastle.

I’m nervous…

That’s understandable, it can be a nerve-wracking thing getting in contact or coming for your first lessons. It’s easy to just say ‘don’t be,’ but the truth is that guitar lessons are a place to come and make mistakes, as well as learn from someone who knows how to correct them. The more mistakes the better - you can’t possibly do anything wrong.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

That is not a problem at all, simply contact me 48 hours before our lesson and we will rearrange it. Guitar Lessons Newcastle does operate a 48-hour cancellation policy, whereby if you cancel your lesson within two days of your lesson slot you will be charged the full price of the lesson.

Do you do gift vouchers for birthdays & Christmas?

Certainly, get in contact for more information.
